PRP (platelet-rich plasma)

PRP is the abbreviation for “platelet-rich plasma” and is one of the many methods of mesotherapy. The blood platelets (thrombocytes) are responsible for the healing process. For example, after a cut, they release a multitude of growth factors, stop the bleeding and promote wound healing. Aesthetic medicine also uses this regenerative power to stimulate the skin or hair follicles to grow. Thus, PRP belongs to the treatments that improve skin quality and hair growth, but also stimulate the regeneration of blood vessels.

This form of treatment is popular because only the patient’s own blood or plasma is used for it. A lift in the surgical sense is not performed, so the term “vampire lift” is rather misleading in my opinion.

Treatment with PRP is indicated to achieve a more beautiful skin appearance, whether on the face or décolleté. However, it does not replace volume for shaping, for which a filler made of hyaluron is the means of choice. Similarly, PRP does not treat frown or laugh lines, for which botulinum is a better solution. An alternative for renewing the skin’s appearance is “laser skin resurfacing”, which can be combined with PRP. PRP is also used to improve blood flow to the erectile tissue in the penis.

For men, the regenerative potential in the treatment of erectile dysfunction is worth mentioning, especially in combination with Shockwave therapy. These therapies stimulate the regeneration of the blood vessels of the corpus cavernosum. The injections into the corpus cavernosum of the penis are slightly painful, comparable to the prick of a blood sample.

Particular attention should be paid to the quality of the PRP. Centrifugation causes the platelets to accumulate in the lower part of the collection tube, while the upper part of the plasma in the tube contains hardly any platelets. It makes no sense to inject this part as well. At the same time, a certain amount of platelet-rich plasma is needed to treat the whole face or décolleté. The PRP system from World-PRP provides a sufficient amount.

FAQ

Do I need time off after the treatment?2023-01-09T12:09:55+01:00

No. The injection of PRP is minimally painful, you should only refrain from sports and sexual activities on the day of treatment. However, you can continue your everyday life without any problems.

Does PRP lead to an increase in the size of the penis?2023-01-09T12:03:37+01:00

PRP promotes blood flow and the regeneration of blood vessels in the penis. An increase in length is possible, but should be slight. For a significant increase in length, a surgical intervention is necessary. For penile thickening, i.e. increase in girth, a filler injection is the better choice.

I have a cold, can I still come for treatment?2023-01-09T12:25:37+01:00

If you have mild cold symptoms without fever, we can still perform treatment. However, if you have a fever or are more seriously ill, we should postpone the treatment for your safety.

I have burning when urinating or purulent discharge from the urethra2023-01-09T12:08:32+01:00

In this case, you should postpone the treatment. You are probably suffering from a urinary tract infection or urethritis. Make an appointment with your family doctor right away and postpone the treatment with PRP.

I have swelling after treatment with PRP. What should I do?2023-01-09T12:30:05+01:00

The fluid volume of the plasma needs time to disperse. Without the addition of hyaluron, this takes about one night. With the addition of hyaluron, it takes about 48 hours until no more swelling is visible. Cool the treated areas if necessary.

If, on the other hand, you have severe redness, swelling and pain, contact me immediately on +41 (0) 76 578 11 11 or go to an emergency ward. If you are unsure, do not hesitate to call.

What should I do or refrain from doing before or after treatment with PRP?2023-01-09T11:54:22+01:00

Avoiding alcohol on the day of treatment and the day before reduces the risk of bruising. After the injection of PRP into the corpora cavernosa, you should avoid sporting or sexual activities on the same day. Dry well after showering. From the following day, all activities are allowed as usual.
