Depigmentation/Bleaching
The pigmentation of the skin
The skin consists of different cell types. In addition to keratinocytes, it also contains pigment cells called melanocytes. Depending on the ethnic origin of the patient, these produce a certain amount and colour variant of melanin, the pigment of the skin. There are six skin types according to Fitzgerald, which describe the pigmentation and thus the sensitivity of the skin to sunlight. The pigment cells are distributed differently over the entire skin, often they are more dense in the intimate zone. The melanocytes protect us from UV radiation. The duration and intensity of sun exposure influence melanin production so that the skin tans overall, especially in pigment spots that are already present. Unfortunately, UVA also accelerates ageing, UVB has a carcinogenic effect. For the production of vitamin D, just a few minutes of daily sun exposure are enough.
Hormonal changes, inflammations and eczema influence the melanocytes. During pregnancy, typical pigment spots (melasma) can develop. Skin abrasions often heal with the production of additional pigmentation.
Depigmentation / Bleaching
Various conventional peelings have a regulating effect on natural pigmentation, mainly by removing melanin. Dermamelan® is a further developed product from swissestetic® that intervenes at several points of pigmentation. It reduces melanin synthesis, but also the transfer of melanin from the pigment cells to the other skin cells. It removes already existing melanin from the upper layers of the skin through a light peeling effect. The active ingredients were patented by mesoestetic®, reach the pigment cells as nanovesicles and very specifically reduce the activity of tyrosinase, which produces melanin. The treatment is suitable for all skin types. However, laser therapy is necessary for the removal of tattoos.
Dermamelan® may only be used by doctors or under medical supervision.
